The two-time Wimbledon champion said on June 27 that if was able to play at Wimbledon -- as he has did on Thursday -- then he would likely retire after the Paris Olympics. Murray faced a race against time to be fit to play in his final tournament at the All England Club after undergoing a procedure to address a spinal cyst on June 22. He subsequently withdrew from his first-round singles match on Tuesday, but confirmed that he would play in the men's doubles. However, the 37-year-old's Wimbledon farewell got off to a difficult start on Thursday as he was knocked out of the men's doubles in the first round alongside his older brother, Jamie, with a 7-6 (6), 6-4 loss to Australian pair Rinky Hijikata and John Peers. Speaking after the match, Murray discussed coming to terms with the end of his playing career. "I would love to keep playing, but I can't physically. It is too tough now. All of the injuries, they've added up. ... They haven't been insignificant. But yeah, I want to play forever," Murray told the BBC. "I love the sport. It's given me so much, taught me loads of lessons over the years that I can use for the rest of my life. But yeah, I don't want to stop, so it is hard." Murray also hinted that he might be interested in taking up coaching in his post-playing career. Asked if he was a good tennis watcher, Murray said: "It depends who I'm watching. I hate watching my brother. I find it really difficult to watch my brother play. But yeah, I love tennis. I watch it all the time. I'd probably be more comfortable sitting up there in a coaching box than somewhere else." Murray is due to take to the court again this week after Wimbledon organisers announced on Wednesday that he had entered the mixed doubles draw alongside fellow Brit Emma Raducanu after the pair were given a wild-card entry. The mixed doubles competition begins on Friday. 28c2380f 0543 4992 8d2e F9ada96ee6f7 Bubble Chart Legend Bubble Chart ?t=1532906375349&width=1338&name=bubble Chart Bubble Chart Sample Thumb 400 300 3f653563e4bff65929bb3fd316432db2ab8fc8d0 Tech Predictions 2023 Bubble Chart Press Release 1 Infographic ?p=medium600 Bubble Chart BpXi1sqRDj9COfZrpwTw Demo Thumbnail ReleaseNotes 2022.1 4 Bubble Chart 42768i88777BB2477844C0?v=v2 Fse3IB0XsCAYUFV Desktop Preview 1640185431009 1*EXijXJ24 HS6PnT0AK VKw Bubble Of 2020s Table1 1024x482 B0ba20e437268d3b29f5300b612b6bd7 2023 07 17 Bubble Chart 1*rywZsPXTcAmVeFxagy0QSg Smartmockups L5jv2kqa Capture D E2 80 99 C3 A9cran Buble Chart Bubble Salesbycategory Biuwer Bubble Chart Inside Data Card Editor 2e5e07cdc9 BI02 23 QS February Bubbles 1024x459 9179e2039a7245a03ca2da41cc24c14e ?compress=1&resize=400x300&vertical=top 2023 07 17 Bubble Chart 2 Bubble 20220328 1 Image Png Dec 08 2022 08 52 00 2595 AM PQzrOJ1kcKQA3wLTZB0xdfY2iAUP97mp0IXEMJxWlJINnws Qko 09tDtCq3Lwb8nZGM=w526 H296 Rw V8cUSoBdHmU8iZ99gDt8XCtDhbYcOcQ OsPqcxPMG OHhcqKZEN2f MPG8UjDJ9Mbw=w526 H296 Rw RenditionDownload?rendition=THUMB720BY480&versionId=0684T000001gun5&operationContext=CHATTER&contentId=05T4T0000076ula&page=0 Doc Bubble With Multiple Series 9 KRpBa9bN1 YsHOn 90tTY1kq2Ujij0i6rpPzgH5Efj0aJEyMVF29SBINbrcJZvXQ G=w526 H296 Rw CG2La
