Last week saw the release of Tekken Tag Tournament 2 in Japan. The game debuted at the #1 spot, selling 62,630 copies on the PlayStation 3. For comparison’s sake, Tekken 6 sold 103,105 copies in its first week back in 2009.
At #2 was Rocket Company’s Medabots 7 in Kabuto and Kuwagata versions, selling a combined total of 49,519 copies on the Nintendo 3DS. At #4 was another new 3DS game, Art Academy: Lessons for Everyone!, from Nintendo. This game sold 35,910 copies, and the Art Academy series is somewhat of a long-tailed seller, so this is one to watch over the weeks and months to come.
Finally, Tecmo Koei squeezed another Samurai Warriors game out as well. Samurai Warriors Chronicles: 2nd for the 3DS debuted at #5, selling 33,933 copies. This game is an updated version of the original Samurai Warriors Chronicles, which sold 49,327 copies in week 1, back when it debuted in 2011.
