Last week’s top-seller was Animal Crossing: New Leaf, which returned to the #1 spot after a brief absence. Animal Crossing: New Leaf has sold 1.8 million copies at retail and over 2 million copies including download sales thus far.

Meanwhile, Namco Bandai released One Piece: Romance Dawn on the PSP, selling 167,103 copies of the game. Namco also released AKB1/149 Love Election on both the PSP and PlayStation Vita. The game sold 143,774 copies on the PSP and 35,372 copies on the Vita.

Finally, Konami released Magician’s Quest: Town of Magic for the Nintendo 3DS. That game sold 51,396 copies in its first week. That may seem like a low figure, but it’s in line with the last couple of games, and we’ll have a separate report on the series this week.

On the hardware front, 3DS sales led the pack, while Wii U sold another 122,843 copies in its third week on the market. The system appears to be selling consistently during the holidays, but we fully expect to see sales drop next month, and to remain that way until new high-profile games are released in Spring.
