<< Last week’s software sales chart

Last week in Japan, Pokémon X and Pokémon Y occupied the #1 spot on the software sales chart once again, collectively selling another 470,000 copies. Behind them at #2 was Monster Hunter 4, with another 100,000 copies sold.

At #3 was Grand Theft Auto V, selling a very respectable 90,000 copies in its second week on store shelves, bringing total sales to 450,000 copies. As reported this past weekend, GTAVhad the best debut of any GTA title in Japan.

At #4 was a new release, and this one is rather noteworthy, even if first week sales were on the low side. Sentouchuu: Survival Battle with the Legendary Ninjas is a sequel to Namco Bandai’s Run For Money Tousouchuu, a videogame based on a popular TV show. Readers that keep up with our sales reports might recall Run For Money as the surprise hit that went on to sell over 450,000 copies in Japan over a period of several months.

Here’s the kicker—Run For Money Tousouchuu sold just 30,000 copies in its first week. Sentouchuu is already off to a stronger start with 45,000 copies sold. Now, it remains to be seen if the game can do as well as its predecessor in the long run.
