This past Saturday (September 13th), Nintendo released Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS in Japan. Following its release, the publisher reported that the game sold 1 million copies in its first two days, making it the fourth Nintendo 3DS game to achieve an opening of 1 million sales.

In their weekly sales chart, sales tracker Media Create have revealed that, at retail, Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS sold 944,644 copies. That means the game sold at least 55,356 copies via download sales, carrying it to the 1 million mark.

On the hardware front, the Nintendo 3DS sold 39,569 units (3DS + XL combined). That isn’t a huge increase over the number of 3DS units sold the week prior, but when you keep in mind that the New Nintendo 3DS has already been announced and is headed to Japan soon, it’s an impressive figure.

Also released last week was Destiny, Bungie’s new FPS-cum-online RPG. Sony published the game in Japan on PS4 and PS3, and Destiny sold 140,780 copies between the two platforms in its first week. That’s a great start, especially considering that this is a new property. To PS4’s credit, Destiny sold far more on that platform, too.
