<< How to read and understand sales

Last week, Japan didn’t see any major releases following the previous week that saw Dragon Quest Heroes II, Overwatch, Guilty Gear Xrd: Revelator, and more. Here’s a look at video game sales data for software and hardware that sold from the week of May 30 through June 5, 2016.

Dragon Quest Heroes II continues to sell well in its second week after having sold 107,366 units across PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, and PlayStation Vita to take the top three spots. Following in #4 is Overwatch, which saw 17,897 copies moved in its second week.

In #5 Kirby: Planet Robobot shows that it’ll be there to stay for a while with 14,832 copies sold this past week, which isn’t bad when considering that the game released in Japan at the end of April. After the #5 spot, the software numbers are significantly lower overall, but we can still see that many of the regular titles of late have made themselves at home in the top-20. As far as hardware sales go, they’re pretty similar to what we saw the week prior.

The only new release in Japan last week was Prototype’s visual novel Taisho x Alice: All in One for PlayStation Vita, which took the #14 spot with 4,539 copies sold.
