Last week in Japan, a couple anticipated titles in Gravity Rush 2 and Valkyria Revolution released, as well as Poochy & Yoshi’s Woolly World on 3DS, and PSV visual novel, Hana Oboro: Sengoku-den Ranki. Here’s the latest from Japanese sales tracker, Media Create, with a look at software and hardware sales from the week of January 9 through January 15, 2017.TK

At #1 is Gravity Rush 2 with 74,361 copies sold in its debut for PS4, making it the highest-selling Gravity Rush title in its first week with the original Gravity Rush selling 43,462 copies in its debut on PS Vita and Gravity Rush Remastered selling 25,004 copies on PS4.

Poochy & Yoshi’s Woolly World debuted at #2 with 39,555 copies sold on 3DS, a modest start but also topped the debut of the original Yoshi’s Woolly World on Wii U, which sold 31,158 units in its 2015 debut.

Next, we have Valkyria Revolution at #3 on PS4 with 38,197 copies sold and at #7 on PS Vita with 18,219 units for a total of 56,416 copies sold between the two versions. These are overall better numbers than the previous title from February of last year in Valkyria Chronicles Remastered that sold 24,156 copies on PS4 for its debut, but it’s still a major drop as far as it being a main title from the series. Valkyria Chronicles 3 sold 102,779 copies on the PSP alone back in 2011.

And finally, we have Idea Factory’s latest from their otome label, Otomate, with Hana Oboro: Sengoku-den Ranki, which opened at #17 with 4,522 copies sold on PS Vita. Hardware sales are continuing to drop in numbers, but without any “console sellers” in the horizon and a new platform with the Nintendo Switch around the corner, we probably won’t see any major increases in hardware sales for a little while.
