Last week, Japan saw several HD remasters with the return of some big titles in Yakuza 3 on PS4, Okami and Layton’s Mystery Journey: Katrielle and the Millionaire’s Conspiracy on Nintendo Switch. Japanese sales tracker Media Create released the latest video game software and hardware sales data from the week of August 6 through August 12, 2018.

At the top of the week is Yakuza 3 looking better than ever with a PS4 remaster that debuted with 26,047 units sold in its first week to chart at #1. Splatoon 2 is back at #2 after selling 21,630 units in the week to keep things going. Taiko no Tatsujin: Drum ‘n’ Fun! also saw some solid sales with 21,020 units sold to chart at #3. Both Splatoon 2 and Taiko no Tatsujin on Switch continue with consistent sales.

At #4 we have our next new title with Fire Pro Wrestling World on PS4 with a solid 20,218 units sold in its debut. WarioWare Gold also continues to impress with 19,183 units sold on the Nintendo 3DS in its second week to chart at #5.

The next new title of the week is Bullet Girls Phantasia at #10 with 14,396 units sold on PS4 and at #19 with 6,441 units sold on the PS Vita to combine for 20,837 units between the two. That’s less than the very first Bullet Girls which debuted on the PS Vita with 29,690 units sold, but more than the 17,224 units that its sequel Bullet Girls 2 sold in its debut.

Okami HD released on the Nintendo Switch and it charted at #11 with 14,089 units sold. It actually wasn’t far from Okami HD’s PS4 release back in December 2017 when it sold 16,536 units during Christmas week. And lastly, we have Layton’s Mystery Journey: Katrielle and the Millionaire’s Conspiracy DX at #15 with 9,704 units sold on the Nintendo Switch. Its original version on 3DS sold 70,867 units on its 3DS debut.

In hardware sales, we saw a slight drop across most platforms, more so for the 2DS and 3DS LL that saw a boost last week thanks to Etrian Odyssey X and WarioWare Gold. The PlayStation 4 sold 16,982 and the PS4 Pro sold 5,044 to combine for a total of 22,026 units of PS4s sold in the week. The Nintendo Switch sold 50,143 units to make up for 57.9% of all consoles sold to take the top spot. Going by Media Create’s figures, the Nintendo Switch is currently at 4,803,768 units sold in Japan since its launch in March 3, 2017.
