Last week, Japan had a quiet week in terms of new releases with the only one being Neko Tomo for the Nintendo Switch. Otherwise, we it mostly saw Call of Duty: Black Ops IV and Red Dead Redemption 2 compete for top.

At #1 we have Call of Duty: Black Ops IV which managing to impressively take back the top with 39,077 units sold on PS4, beating out the #2 in Red Dead Redemption 2 that has been selling in record-shattering numbers around the world, but in Japan it would have to settle for second place this week with 34,258 units sold on the PS4.

Super Mario Party charted #3 with 27,001 units sold on Switch, followed by several more Switch titles with Minecraft at #4 with 8,093, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe at #5 with 8,000, Splatoon 2 at #6 with 6,605, and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild sees its consistency pay off by being back in the top-10 at #7 with 4,628 units sold in the week.

SoulCalibur VI followed with 4,304 units sold on PS4 to chart at #8, Assassin’s Creed Odyssey at #9 with 4,240 units sold. #10 went to the only new release of the week to chart top-20 with Neko Tama which sold 4,151 units for Switch.

In hardware sales, the Nintendo hardware all saw a slight increase while the PlayStation consoles saw a slight decrease with the PS4 selling 8,693 units and the PS4 Pro with 8,847 to combine for 17,540 units between the two in the week. The Switch was the best-selling console of the week with 43,747 units sold, making up about 62.8% of all hardware sold. Going by Media Create’s figures, the Nintendo Switch is currently at 5,267,701 units sold in Japan since its launch in March 3, 2017.
