A Certain Scientific Railgun Anime Season 4 Announced

Kadokawa and J.C.Staff have revealed that they are working on producing season 4 of the anime adaptation of A Certain Scientific Railgun. The spin-off anime to A Certain Magical Index which stars Misaka Mikoto will have a new continuation in the near future.

The new season will mostly have the same key staff members as the previous ones. Tatsuyuki Nagai will return as the director for the spinoff anime that initially launched in 2009 and had its latest third season in 2020. Rina Sato, Satomi Arai, Aki Toyosaki, and Kanae Ito—the voice actresses behind Misaka, Shirai, Uiharu, and Saten—are all also confirmed reprising their respective roles.

Kadokawa first made the announcement at a Dengeki Bunko online program that aired on Abema on February 16, 2025. Shortly after the premiere, it published the teaser trailer for the wider public.

The new Railgun anime season will bring back even more visibility for the well-established A Certain Magical Index franchise. Earlier in February 2025, Sega added crossover content featuring characters from the 2018 third season of A Certain Magical Index anime to the online game Phantasy Star Online 2: New Genesis. Misaka is also included in the character lineup.

Season 4 of the anime adaptation of A Certain Scientific Railgun is under production. Kadokawa and J.C.Staff will inform the launch window of the new season at a later time.
