Final Fantasy XIV dropped its latest patch in 7.2. While there are plenty of gameplay changes and new content to explore, one easily missable change is to the blacklist system. Here are all of the FFXIV blacklist and mute list adjustments you need to know about in Patch 7.2, as it could cause problems for some players.
Blacklist Data Adjustments, Explained
These new changes to the blacklist happened because of the recent issues with players being able to access the hidden account IDs for players. As such, changes were made to the client data side that adjusted how blacklists show for you. Whenever you open up your blacklist now after 7.2, all previous blacklists will show as the name. You will not be able to see that person’s character name anymore.
That said, for any new blacklists you make, you will be able to see their names. While this is unfortunate, thankfully, the blacklists still remain in effect. You won’t see the name but the person will still be unable to contact you, so you are still safe in this regard. You can see their name again by removing them from the blacklist and adding them again, but this is a tricky solution I don’t recommend.
FFXIV Patch 7.2 Mute List Changes, Explained
in addition to changes to the blacklist system in FFXIV, the mute list also has some adjustments. That said, unfortunately, the mute list isn’t as positive of a change as the blacklist is, though. All information regarding the mute list for your character is now gone forever.
Unfortunately, this means you will have to mute players all over again. This is a problem if there is someone you are friends with or are in the same Free Company, but they are a bit too chatty. Note that you will need to manually take care of this again, so beware of potential harassers once you log in again after 7.2.
