It is now easier to play a classic action-RPG. Blizzard has revealed Diablo is now available through GOG. People who pick up a digital copy will be able to enjoy it without any sort of DRM, know it will work on their modern OS, and be able to possibly see it a little clearer with HD resolution support. It does not include the Diablo: Hellfire expansion.
When people buy Diablo for $9.99 through GOG, they get two versions of the game. One is a Battle.net version that is identical to the one released years ago. It uses classic Battle.net for online multiplayer. The GOG enhanced-version is the one with HD resolution support, greater OS compatibility, and other adjustments to make it look and run better on modern PCs. However, this version only allows people to dungeon-crawl together over LAN and P2P connections and does not use Battle.net.
Diablo originally appeared on PCs back in 1996. It also appeared on the PlayStation in 1998.
