In terms of the emote, it is called Photograph. It doesn’t require any Instax or Fujifilm purchase. It will just be added and available for everyone to acquire after patch 7.18 arrives.

It’s the FFXIV Instax Photograph emote contest that is more clearly explained by Square Enix and Fujifilm on a new site. Rather than real-world prizes, people can earn in-game ones. However, there are some limitations. You must be playing the game, because it will be tied to screenshots you take in-game. You also need to have an X social media account, as the companies said we’ll need to enter by sharing those photos there. Those can be put online between February 27, 2025 and March 23, 2025, and 10,000 “winners” will get one of three different in-game cosmetics.

Said FFXIV cosmetics are all items that tend to be given away as rewards for events and contests. For example, the Fat Cat Earrings accessory could be won in the Hairstyle Design Contest 2023. The Gaelicap head armor, which we saw appear as a Dawntrail Benchmark Screenshot Sweepstakes prize. Finally, The Great Paraserpent umbrella fashion accessory showed up as a prize in the Weapon Design Contest and Capturing Valentione’s Day Memories Sweepstakes, as well as other events.

Here’s how those rewards look:

Final Fantasy XIV is available on the PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC, and the Fujifilm Instax camera emote will appear in FFXIV when patch 7.18 arrives on February 25, 2025.
