Final Fantasy IV: The After Years just launched on WiiWare in Japan. As a clever tie-in, Square Enix is releasing Final Fantasy IV as a Virtual Console game next month.

Final Fantasy IV tells the story of Cecil, a dark knight who becomes a paladin, and flies to the moon. You can relive the uncut adventure (remember the dancer?) if you have a Japanese Wii and 900 Wii Points ($9). Even though Final Fantasy IV costs 100 Wii Points ($1) more than the average Super Nintendo game it’s a good deal.

Other than Square Enix’s monthly Final Fantasy game there isn’t much to see. Nintendo is pretty much pulling the plug on the Virtual Console platform.

Here’s the full list. Games marked with an asterisk are scheduled for release on August 4.

Ike Ike! Nekketsu Hockey Bu

Super Famicom
Final Fantasy IV* (900)

Mega Drive

Pitfall: The Mayan Adventure*
