Some of the more whimsical Final Fantasy VII retro figures are heading westward. Square Enix revealed it will be releasing the polygonal set of eight figures based on the original PlayStation game worldwide in August 2020. The blind box set of eight is up for preorder for $64 at the Square Enix Store.
These were first shown as prototypes at Tokyo Game Show 2019. Here’s the tweet revealing the eight Final Fantasy VII retro figures, all of which feature prominently in Final Fantasy VII Remake. The tallest in the group is Barret, at 2.6”, and Red XIII is the shortest at 1.4”.

Here’s a gallery looking at each of the Final Fantasy VII retro figures from different angles.
There are eight figures and one “Chaser” figure in this set. Unfortunately, buying a box of eight doesn’t guarantee you’ll get a full set with Aerith, Barret, Cloud, Red XIII, Reno, Sephiroth, and Tifa. It just means you will get eight boxes with one of the random characters in it.
Also, as is common with merchandise like this, physical copies of Final Fantasy VII Remake, and the Final Fantasy VII Remake soundtrack, Square Enix has a warning that things might not release and ship on schedule. It being an import item, which could get caught up in customs. Also, with the state of shipments in general during the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic, release dates could change.
The Final Fantasy VII retro figures will be released in the west in August 2020 and are immediately available in Japan. Final Fantasy VII Remake will come to the PlayStation 4 on April 10, 2020.
