Hades 2 Warsong Update Adds Ares

Supergiant Games has released its second major update to the Early Access version of Hades 2, bringing with it new boons and artwork and bringing back Ares as a patron god from the first game. The new update also adds a final boss battle to the Olympus route as well as more story and voice lines.

In the first game, Ares’ boons focused around applying the damage-over-time effect Doom, whereas in Hades 2 they appear to inflict more direct damage and apply the Wounds status instead. Other changes include reworks to weapons like the Staff, Skull and Coat, and cards equipped at the Altar of Ashes now have full artwork instead of placeholders.

The full patch notes are available via Steam here, but Supergiant has also put out a dramatic reading of the patch notes by recurring voice actor Logan Cunningham, who voices Hades, Homer and others in the game.

The last big content update for Hades 2came out back in October, 2024, adding a new weapon and voice actor Ben Starr as the titan Prometheus. Good Smile Company has also shown off a painted prototype Nendoroid of protagonist Melinoe.

Hades 2 and the Warsong Update are immediately available for PC and Mac via Steam and the Epic Games Store.
