Working off of the existing Timewalking system, this returning event offers new rewards in the form of both loot and mounts. So to help you make the most of this event, here’s all you need to know about Turbulent Timeways in World of Warcraft.
How does the Turbulent Timeways event Work in World of Warcraft?
Turbulent Timeways builds on the Timewalking system, which is a recurring event that allows players to use the Group Finder system to queue for dungeons from past expansions, such as Mists of Pandaria or Burning Crusade. To enter a Timewalking Dungeon, you’ll need to be at least level 10 and have unlocked the group finder. Then, simply open the Groupfinder by clicking the eye symbol in the bottom right of your screen or using the default key ‘i’. You can click the boxes at the top of the menu to choose your preferred roles (Tank, Healer, etc.), then select ‘Random Timewalking Dungeon’ from the drop-down box. Finally, hit the Find Group button to be placed in the queue alongside other players. When a full group is ready, a ready prompt will pop up and if every member hits accept you’ll be automatically teleported to your dungeon.
These dungeons scale your character to provide a reasonable challenge regardless of your level while also providing relevant rewards, at least for characters not quite at max level. As well as this, Timewalking vendors appear in cities important to the featured expansion offering cosmetics, crafting items, and even mounts in exchange for the Timewarped badges that drop from bosses.
How Turbulent Timeways mixes things up is by running 7 weeks of Timewalking events back to back, with the featured expansion changing every week. Additionally, after completing a Timewalking Dungeon you will gain the Knowledge of the Timeways buff, with additional dungeons completed adding stacks to it. This buff increases experience earned, and at 4 stacks it transforms into Mastery of the Timeways for an even bigger buff.
This makes the event great for levelling alts, but max level characters will get something as well. In the The War Within‘s main city of Dornogal characters will be able to get a weekly quest offering a satchel of item level 610-619 gear, on par with items from the Heroic difficulty of the Nerub’ar Palace raid, for completing 5 Timewalking Dungeons. After the event ends, this quest will return for other Timewalking events but only offer 597-606 gear.
