Event Quests returned in Monster Hunter Wilds, and the first ones include a High Rank Yian Kut-Ku mission called “Kut-Ku Gone Cuckoo.” From now until March 18, 2025, Players can engage in this quest to hunt a High Rank Yian Kut-Ku and get Mimiphyta headgear. Here’s how it works.
How do I start “Kut-Ku Gone Cuckoo” in Monster Hunter Wilds?
In order to access this, or any other Event quest in Monster Hunter Wilds, players must be connected to the internet. You cannot undertake this quest without being able to get online in some form. Secondly, you must be above Hunter Rank 9 and in the High Rank section of the game. Once you have seen the credits roll at the end of Chapter 3, you will enter High Rank. After you capture the first Yian Kut-Ku in the story assignment, you should be at HR 9. Then you can select the event quest under the Event Quest tab when you talk to Alma to access the Quest Counter.
The first thing we notice about this specific quest is that every monster in the sunny, Plenty-season Scarlet Forest is a Yian Kut-Ku. This monster already is a pack animal and generally cooperates with other Kut-Ku to fight you. So now, in addition to the others you would face normally, you have to watch for even more who could crash the party at a moment’s notice.
Like the previous, tutorial battle with the Yian Kut-Ku that introduced the Capture mechanic, dung pods will be essential to keeping the fight into a one-on-one affair. Water, Ice, or Thunder weapons will go a long way to taking it down, as long as the other Yian Kut-Ku don’t gang up on you. You also will only have to hunt the one, designated Yian Kut-Ku, so you will not be forced to fight every Kut-Ku in the forest to complete the quest.
What do I get from “Kut-Ku Gone Cuckoo” in Monster Hunter Wilds?
As for what you get for clearing the event quest, you are rewarded with Yian Kut-Ku parts and a unique event item: the Mimiphyta Ticket. Two of these tickets are needed to forge a special piece of headgear for your hunters. This is a hat that resembles the Mimiphyta flower mimic lemurs from the Scarlet Forest.
This hat features one level in Ambush, which buffs sneak attacks, and Entomologist, which prevents you from breaking small insect monsters so you can safely carve them without missing out on your potential drops. It also can be combined with any other Fortifying Pelt equipment to grant you Fortify, which buffs you every time you faint during a quest, allowing you to get back up stronger if a Monster knocks you down.
This Event Quest is only available for a limited time until March 18, 2025. Players will need to do it at least twice to be able to make the special gear from this quest before it becomes unavailable.
Monster Hunter Wilds is available now on PS5, Xbox Series S/X, and PC. The first Title Update featuring the monster Mizutsune and a brand new Tempered Monster will arrive in Spring of 2025. “The current run of event quests will go from March 4, to March 11, 2025, with new quests rotating in every week. “Kut-Ku Gone Cuckoo” will run from March 4 to March 18, 2025.
