Longvinter combines gameplay elements of Animal Crossing and Rust, as your goal is to build and maintain a campsite by collecting resources through various activities like fishing and farming. Once you reach Sgt. Lake outpost, you can purchase a tent, which will become the foundation of your campsite. But let’s be honest–no one wants to live in a tired-looking tent for too long, so here is how you can convert it into a cozy house.
How Do I Get A Tent in Longvinter?
Before you can contemplate building a house in Longvinter, you must get your hands on a tent. You can buy a tent at various vending machines scattered across the map. We recommend heading to the orange vending machine at the Sgt. Lake outpost to buy one, which will cost you 762mk. Once you have purchased the tent, you will want to place it in an open space. However, you will need to be mindful about where you drop the tent, as this space will become your permanent campsite area. You can purchase new houses later on, but you will have to make significant progress on that server.
There are a lot of pros and cons to consider when choosing a campsite location. If you build a campsite near an outpost, many players could trail you, but you’ll be able to access your area quickly. On the other hand, placing the tent on the island’s outskirts might make it hard to reach in tight situations. We suggest picking whichever method you think will suit your playstyle best. When you are happy with the location, open up your inventory by pressing the Tab key. You will then want to select the tent from the inventory, which will allow you to place it on the ground.
How Do I Get a House in Longvinter?
Now that the tent is set up, you can build it into a cozy house. To upgrade your property, you will need to buy a workshop. You can purchase the workshop at the same orange vending machine where you bought the tent, so simply return to the Sgt. Lake outpost. You can buy the workshop for 2,041mk. Head back to your tent, go inside, and place down the workshop by heading into your inventory and selecting it.
To upgrade the tent to a cabin, you will need the following resources:
- 150 Wood
- 50 Juniper Wood
To obtain these pieces of wood, you will need to chop down different types of trees. This can be done with either a hatchet or a chainsaw. The easiest way to do this is to buy a hatchet at, you guessed it, the orange vending machine at Sgt. Lake outpost. When you have the hatchet, you will want to use the inventory menu to equip it to your character.
You can chop down the trees in the open terrain by holding down on the RMB (right mouse button), followed by a tap of LMB (left mouse button). The standard big trees will give you ordinary wood, whereas the juniper trees, which are much smaller in comparison, will provide you with juniper wood. You will not be able to carry all the needed material at one given time, so you must return to the workshop, deposit the wood you have so far, and then collect some more. Once you have gathered all the required materials, you can upgrade the tent into a house at the workshop.
Longvinter is now available on PC.
