How to Climb Icy Peak in Hello Kitty Island Adventure

Hello Kitty Island Adventure is a surprisingly expansive game. It seems as though a new area or feature unlocks every play session. With several unlockable biomes, each with their own materials to collect and quests to complete, your total playtime in Island Adventure is sure to encroach upon triple digits. Of these biomes is the Icy Peak, a “final” area accessible at the end of a long quest chain. Exclusive to this biome is the unique way of navigating it- and it’s not very simple. Here’s how to climb the icy peak in Hello Kitty Island Adventure.

How to Climb Icy Peak in Hello Kitty Island Adventure

It’s worth mentioning that the “A Challenging Rescue” quest, which makes the Icy Peak accessible, requires you to have obtained three Stamina Apples before it activates. This is a subtle hint about how navigating Icy Peak works. Periodically, strong winds will blow across the peak, making climbing difficult. If the player is climbing when the winds begin picking up, their stamina will instantly deplete to zero. This will cause the player to fall back to the ground, undoing their climbing progress! In order to climb Icy Peak successfully, you’ll either have to time your climb with the blowing of the winds, or use some alternative methods.

Look Below Your Mini-Map

Timing your climb to the winds is easier said than done. Icy Peak’s wind effects are constantly going, with slight visual changes occurring when the wind picks up. There’s an audio cue you can follow- but the difference in sound is also difficult to discern without spending considerable time learning it. To make matters worse, the winds don’t follow a set pattern. Sometimes, the wind will blow for less time, or come back in faster than it did previously. Fortunately, you can ignore these cues and timings completely. If you want to climb Icy Peak the old-fashioned way, take a good look at the space just below your mini-map. This is where Island Adventure displays the various buffs and debuffs you can obtain in-game. If this area on your HUD shows a lightning bolt symbol with a down arrow, wait for it to go away. This symbol denotes the stamina debuff from the strong winds. Once it disappears, you can start climbing without any penalties! Hurry on to the next part of your climb before the winds pick back up and the debuff activates again.

Spam That Jump Button

Hello Kitty Island Adventure has a funny little exploit built into its climbing mechanics. When climbing, you can press the jump button repeatedly in order to scale the wall much faster. This comes at the cost of burning more stamina quickly. However, this is perfect for the Icy Peak, where finishing a climb quickly is more important than conserving stamina. Due to the inconsistency of the peak’s winds, it’s best to immediately start spamming your jump as you climb upward. This will mitigate the odds that the winds kick you off the wall and send you careening back down. This trick may require more stamina than is needed to unlock the Icy Peak quest, but if you’ve been raising your friendships with island residents, you should have more than enough Stamina Apples to make it work.

Avoid Climbing; Use the Cave System

Let’s be honest: climbing the Icy Peak can be annoying. The stamina drain is instantaneous. It leaves no room for error. It’s just not very fun if you can’t get the timing right. There is another way. If you can get past the first climbing section on the peak, you’ll be able to reach a system of caves that connect to the summit. After climbing the first stone outcropping and reaching the first cave entrance, immediately head east and float downwards to a second entrance. Go inside and glide across the broken bridge. Don’t worry, an upward draft will propel you across if you miss the platforms. Go through the exit. You’ll be back outside. From here, head left and downwards to another cave entrance. This area will have a lake in the center. Dive into the lake and swim all the way to the bottom, revealing another entrance. You’ll end up at the bottom of a different lake, so swim up to the surface. Leave out the northwest exit, and directly on your right is a stone path on the wall. This is a short climb up to the summit of Icy Peak!

Companion Abilities and Potions Make it Easier

Whether you’re trying to swim through those deep underwater channels, or brute forcing the climb, always remember to bring your friends along. Pekkle’s “Speed Climber” ability is incredibly useful here. It can increase your climbing speed by 50% or 100% depending how high your friendship with Pekkle is. For swimming, a Deep Diving Potion will overcome any stamina limitations you might have, or at least make the process a little faster. Stamina Recharge Potions can also help recover your stamina faster in the event you mistime a climb! In order to make potions, you’ll need to have a friendship level of eight with Kuromi to unlock the Cauldron.

Good luck on your Icy Peak trek! This climactic quest is a big challenge, so make sure you’re improving your friendships with Island Adventure’s various characters to have access to their abilities and unlocks! Make sure to activate the Fast Travel point on the summit to make navigating the peak much easier on return visits!
