How to Do a Dynasty Warriors Origins Battle Art Chain

Battle Arts are abilities you can activate to penetrate officer defenses, but require Bravery to use. Likewise, a Battle Art Chain is when an allied officer performs their own Battle Art immediately after yours. Battle Art Chains are introduced the first time you’re directly accompanied by an allied officer on a mission. However, it’s usable with any allied officer nearby as long as they have enough Bravery to perform their own. At a distance, keep an eye out for an icon resembling two hexagons overlapping each other over the officers’ heads. This will indicate they can team-up for a Battle Art Chain.

Pay close attention to your Battle Art icons on the lower-right corner of your screen. When a friendly officer is close enough to perform a Battle Art Chain, your Battle Arts will change from yellow to blue. Alternatively, a blue line will connect between you and the officer. Performing a battle art under these conditions will activate the Battle Art Chain. Unfortunately, some Battle Arts can greatly affect your position on the battlefield. If your Battle Arts move you too far away from the officer you’re trying to chain with, the Battle Art Chain will not occur. If the allied officer’s own attacks move them away from you, the Battle Art Chain will also not occur. Make sure to use Battle Arts that maintain your proximity to the other officer.

Breaking enemy officer defenses to assault them, executing well-timed parries and dodges, and using Battle Arts early and often are all ways to inspire your allies to perform Battle Art Chains with you. Increasing your bond with other officers increases the likelihood they’ll perform Battle Art Chains as well. Make sure to take the time to nurture your relationships with them if you’re trying to activate the Battle Art Chain as much as possible. Your allies will need to replenish their own Bravery before they can do the Battle Art Chain again. Feel free to exhaust your own Bravery supply in the meantime. Missions will rarely last long enough for multiple Battle Art Chains with the same officer to activate. Keep a look out for other officers to pair-up with during missions if you want to perform many in a single mission.

Battle Art Chains are sometimes necessary to complete officer training, but otherwise aren’t an integral part of performing well during missions. Utilize them when the opportunity arises, but don’t worry too much about making them happen. Even when playing perfectly, there’s a chance the Battle Art Chain might not activate. Raising your bond with other officers in Dynasty Warriors Origins is a good way to ensure more Battle Art Chains, but will also reward you with coveted Old Coins.
