How to Escape Gregminster in Suikoden

After Tir gets back from Mount Seifu in Suikoden, certain events mean his home of Gregminster in the Scarlet Moon Empire isn’t so happy and safe anymore and we need to escape. However, since this is an older JRPG, finding your way out isn’t as clearly telegraphed. It isn’t too hard to get out of town, but you do need to follow specific steps.

How do I escape Gregminster in Suikoden?

First, you need to agree to Ted’s wishes in your home. He’ll ask you to escape after Pahn betrays you all to the empire. This is a “but thou must” moment. Even if you tell him “no,” you can’t advance until you agree. Tir, Gremio, and Cleo will escape through the kitchen.

Once you’re in town, options are limited! Soldiers are at the road to the castle and out of town. Many places’ doors are blocked. Approaching any of them will call attention to you and result in dialogue that shows the Empire’s men know you’re the rebels. So head to the inn. Marie, who you will later meet in another town and recruit as a member of the Liberation Army, will hide you in the basement.

From here, you actually need to try to leave the inn. If you talk to folks, they’ll warn you to not do anything that gets attention, but that’s what you want. Try to leave the inn. Soldiers will show up. At this point, I recommend you select the dialogue option “(We need to stay inconspicuous.)” A man will come from the “restaurant” area of the inn and involve himself in the altercation. Because of this, Viktor will help Tir, Gremio, and Cleo get out of there without being caught.

Viktor takes off when you leave. If you want to escape Gregminster in Suikoden, you need to meet up with him again. He’s in the back of town sitting on one of the benches near Milich Oppenheimer’s lavish mansion in the northwest corner of town. You can see his exact spot in the screenshot I shared below.

Talk to him, and you’ll team up together. He’ll help you escape town, and all of you will head off to meet with his allies in Lenankamp.
