Godzilla’s collaboration with Fortnite is now live, allowing players to battle and even become the legendary Kaiju himself. Here’s everything you need to know, including how to find and transform into Godzilla or take him down and earn rewards.
Godzilla appearance in Fortnite, explained
In every match of Fortnite‘s Battle Royale modes, there’s a chance (roughly 40%) for a rift to spawn. The first player to jump into this rift becomes Godzilla, equipped with powerful abilities and a massive amount of Health.
Godzilla’s colossal size will make him a prime target for other players, who can shoot him to receive Godzilla’s Fragments. These Fragments fall off when players shoot Godzilla’s weak points and grant 40 Health and three dash charges when consumed.
The player who deals the most damage to Godzilla will receive the Godzilla Medallion, which grants a dash ability for the rest of the match, and an exotic Burst Quad Launcher.
How do I find and become Godzilla in Fortnite?
A Godzilla silhouette icon will appear on your map if the Godzilla portal spawns in your match. The rift will typically spawn as the first Storm circle begins to close.
There’s also a chance that King Kong will spawn as the Battle Bus flies in, which signals that a Godzilla portal is guaranteed to spawn during that match. Unfortunately, King Kong isn’t currently playable in Kaiju size, though he is available alongside Mechagodzilla in the Item Shop.
As soon as a player becomes Godzilla, they’re pretty hard to miss. A “GODZILLA INCOMING” banner will appear alongside a health meter, similar to Doom’s fight last season.
Godzilla is also available as a regular skin in Fortnite Chapter 6 Season 1’s Battle Pass. He’s not so big when you play as him this way, though!
How do I beat Godzilla in Fortnite?
Godzilla takes damage from all weapons, though you want to aim for the weak spots on his back to deal extra damage. The newly unvaulted Rail Gun is perfect for the job, as it’s easy to aim at such a large target and deals serious damage to his scales.
As mentioned previously, the player who deals the most damage to Godzilla during the match receives the Godzilla Medallion and Burst Quad Launcher. This is also the objective of a limited-time Quest awarding 25,000 XP.
Keep in mind that there can only be one Godzilla per match, so make sure to join in the hunt — or wreak havoc if you’re lucky enough to reach the portal — to complete your Quests.
Fortnite is free to play on PC, Mac, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and select mobile devices.
