How to Fish in Longvinter

If you have ever wanted a survival game to encompass more of a cozy vibe, then Longvinter will be your new favourite title. Your aim is to build a luxurious campsite by gathering materials through various methods like farming, cooking, or mischievously stealing from other players. Fishing is a solid way to gain some money in the early hours of Longvinter, so here is how you can quickly start catching some fish.

How Do I Start Fishing in Longvinter?

The first thing you’re going to want to do is buy a fishing rod. You can purchase one at vending machines scattered across the map. When you first start playing Longvinter, you will spawn at Artur’s outpost, and in front of you will be a dark blue vending machine with enough cash to buy the fishing rod. If you have already spent this money, we suggest picking up items around the environment and selling them at vending machines to gather the necessary funds. It will cost you 61mk to buy the fishing rod.

Once you have purchased the fishing rod, open up your inventory by pressing the Tab key and equip the rod by clicking on it. Afterwards, head towards the sealine, and you should see a small group of fish swimming in a circle. With the mouse, click on the fish swimming together in the water, and the fishing action will commence. Stay at this spot, and eventually, a prompt will appear telling you a fish is nibbling on the line. When you see this, repeatedly press the E key to reel it in. If this is done correctly, you will catch a fish.

If you keep fishing in one spot, the fish in that area will deplete. However, more fish will respawn at that location if you leave the area for a short period. Another tidbit of advice is to make sure not to move while fishing, as this will startle the sealife, preventing you from initiating the fishing action.

How Do I Sell Fish in Longvinter?

One of your first goals is to accumulate enough money to travel to Sgt. Lake. A good way of achieving this is by selling fish you have caught. You can sell fish at various vending machines across the map, but we recommend exchanging fish at dark blue vending machines, as we found these machines tend to give you higher returns.

If you are new to Longvinter, an excellent location to sell fish is at Mrs Snow’s outpost. Most vending machines will give you 31mk for selling a Perch, the most basic fish you will likely catch. Meanwhile, the one at Mrs Snow’s outpost will provide you with 59mk, nearly double the amount. Getting there is also super easy, as you just head left from where you started at Artur’s outpost.

Longvinter is now available on PC.
