How to Get a Civilization VII Domination Victory

Civilization VII mainly focuses on the four key victory conditions of Economic, Military, Science, and Culture. That said, there are a couple of other victory conditions you can get if you fulfill various conditions. One such special victory condition is a Domination Victory in Civilization VII, which is quite the challenge to get.

How the Domination Victory Condition Works

If you’re a veteran player, you probably already know how the Domination Victory works. This particular condition is as old as time itself, or this series at least. As the name implies, the Domination Victory is all about dominating the entire match. As you might expect, the victory condition is quite simple: conquer the entire world.

It is worth noting that the Domination Victory is completely separate from the four main victory types, including the Military one. Military focuses more on the number of Settlements you conquer, while Domination is about taking it all for the win. While it is a straightforward way to win, it is also quite the challenge.

How to Get a Civ VII Domination Victory

To get a Domination Victory in Civ VII, you must capture the capital city of every single civilization in the world. This effectively means you need to wipe out every other civilization. This is no easy task. In fact, with the three Ages system in this particular entry, you aren’t even able to get a Domination Victory in the initial Age of Antiquity without some settings changes.

Your goal, if you go this route, will be take out every other player. You will need the best military possible and forces that will overwhelm the others right from the start. If you are going this route, I highly recommend mixing it with the Military path as well. You can explore, build up Settlements close to others, and eventually take them down. And if you fail to take out the other players in time, you might still be able to get a Military Victory in the Modern Age.

Civilization VII releases for Nintendo Switch, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC on February 11, 2025. It is currently available in Early Access.
