There are some rather unique animals you are able to get on your farm in Stardew Valley. Some of them were even added in later patches that came out years after the indie title’s initial release. This is the exact case with the Ostrich, which you are able to get in Stardew Valley if you fulfill certain requirements.
How to Get an Ostrich
The Ostrich is one of the most exotic animals you can add to your farm in this indie game. As you might expect, it is much harder to get an Ostrich than it is a chicken or other basic animal. That said, it is essentially the same process as obtaining every other animal, at least in terms of how it comes to be.
Like the other farm animals, you will need an Ostrich Egg to get an Ostrich. Once you have this egg, you just need to put it in the Incubator. It is a pretty long process to get an Ostrich, being almost 10 in-game days without the Coopmaster Profession. If you do have that profession, it only takes just under five in-game days to hatch into an Ostrich.
How to Get an Ostrich Egg in Stardew Valley
The tricky part about getting an Ostrich in Stardew Valley is getting an Ostrich Egg in the first place. Unfortunately, there are only two ways to get an Ostrich Egg. Well, three if you count feeding an Ostrich you already have to produce an egg for you. But that requires getting the initial egg, which is the tough part.
The first way to get an Ostrich Egg is by looting rare treasure chests in the Volcano Dungeon. This is an extremely rare drop, though, so you aren’t guaranteed this route. The other method is by completing the Journal Scrap #10 on Ginger Island. If you head to the spot in this scrap and dig up, you will find a guaranteed Ostrich Egg to use.
