Dynasty Warriors Origins has alternative True Endings that differ from the regular historical endings. Each of the three main factions has its own True Ending, and the requirements vary from each other. You can check the methods required to reach the True Endings right below.
Due to the nature of this guide, please be advised that the whole article contains major spoilers for the game.
How to Get Liu Bei Faction’s True Ending
Unlike what long-time series fans may expect, the true ending for Liu Bei’s faction does not involve retaining Xu Shu‘s allegiance. The branch will instead appear at the Battle of Changban.
The secret objective here is to defeat Cao Cao before Liu Bei completes his escape. This task will be very challenging as Cao Cao will stay behind with his large army, and you will have to face the whole army with just yourself, your bodyguard unit, and either Zhao Yun or Zhang Fei as your companion.
As an additional tip, while you may fend off the new pursuing enemy officers like Zhang Liao, I’d recommend against beating any officers blocking Liu Bei’s path. This is because a smoother path for Liu Bei will make his escape quicker and thus also give you less time to successfully beat Cao Cao.
How to Get the Sun Family True Ending in Dynasty Warriors Origins
The method to get the true ending for the Sun family route in Dynasty Warriors Origins is rather straightforward, as we have already shared the methods to rescue Sun Jian and Sun Ce from their respective historical deaths.
You just need to make sure that you have rescued both characters in the same playthrough. After that, you can simply finish the remaining stages with additional exclusive events.
How to Get Cao Cao Faction’s True Ending
Contrary to the above, getting the true ending in Cao Cao’s route is anything but simple. While saving Dian Wei and Guo Jia from their historical deaths are obviously needed, those are not the only requirements.
When the Battle of Chibi is about to begin, you must choose Guo Jia as your companion—if you select any other character, he will not even appear on the map at all. Bringing Guo Jia will trigger an exclusive mission where you can confront Huang Gai before he launches his fire attack—but only after you have seen the wind direction change from south to north. A successful defeat of Huang Gai at this phase will trigger a “Fate Altered” sign and confirm your faction’s true ending.
As an additional note, if you want to unlock all stages and music tracks in this game, you will still have to get Cao Cao’s regular and historical ending by not bringing Guo Jia. This is because the true ending will entirely skip the Wei version of the Battle of Huarong Path.
How to Get the Final True Ending in Dynasty Warriors Origins
As you work through the endings for each of the three factions, you will notice that you still have not unlocked the last two cutscenes before the credits in the gallery. It turns out that maxing out the Peace levels in every province featured in the game’s map will play a part in unlocking those two ending scenes.
Apart from the northwestern Liang Province, all other provinces will take a considerable amount of time to have their Peace levels maxed out. But I found out that clearing every side mission in all chapters—including the ones exclusively available in each faction route—will be mostly enough to get you very close to completely filling the gauges.
Maxing out all provinces’ Peace levels will unlock a new side mission stage called “Dream Battle.” In my playthrough, after I completed this stage, reaching the next faction ending finally lets me watch the secret true ending of Dynasty Warriors Origins.
Once you have gained access to this ending, it will always play regardless of whether you get a faction’s regular or true ending, or whether you choose to become a titled general or continue contributing behind the scenes.
Dynasty Warriors Origins is available worldwide on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and PC.
