Hello Kitty Island Adventure utilizes compound materials for various quest and crafting requirements. Compound materials are items that need to be crafted from more common materials, but are typically used to craft even more complex items afterward. There’s usually a significant material cost for making these compounds, which makes them hard to collect. You also tend to need a great deal of them, making them even harder to keep around. For the most commonly used and exhausted compound, look no further than the Woodblock. You’re going to make a lot of Woodblocks. Naturally, you should probably know how to get woodblocks in Hello Kitty Island Adventure, so you don’t lose time on painstakingly collecting them at a snail’s pace.
How to Get Woodblocks in Hello Kitty Island Adventure
The easiest way to get Woodblocks is by crafting them! Unlike cooking recipes, you can’t tinker your way into discovering crafting plans. Fortunately, there are two different Woodblock crafting plans you can find, and they’re both relatively easy to obtain. One set of crafting plans can be earned by reaching Friendship Level Four with Keroppi. He’ll give you the crafting plans for making Woodblocks out of sticks as a reward. This crafting recipe requires five Sticks for every Woodblock. There’s an abundance of Sticks to find in Hello Kitty Island Adventure, and they’ll most likely be your main source of crafting Woodblocks.
If you don’t want to wait until you’ve befriended Keroppi, another crafting plan is available from the start of a new playthrough! The treasure chest containing the recipe is very close to Visitor Cabin Two in Seaside Resort. From Hello Kitty’s Cafe, head North up the path towards the Visitor Cabin. The treasure chest is on the North side of the small pond that’s segmented by a bridge. It might be hidden by the camera. If you brush up against the side of the hill overlooking the pond, the camera should readjust and make it easier to see. Alternatively, you can head down the Northern wooden path from the center of the Resort Plaza, and upon reaching the two torches standing on either side of the path, immediately start climbing up the wall to the left. You’ll see the chest resting right on the pond’s edge.
This recipe utilizes Coconuts instead of Sticks to make Woodblocks. It uses seven Coconuts for every Woodblock. Granted, this exchange rate is worse than the Sticks plan, made worse knowing there’s fewer Coconuts than Sticks to collect. Even once you’ve increased the number of Coconut spawns, this recipe is inferior to the other. That being said, you won’t be using Coconuts for much else. It’s also nice to have both recipes, since you can double up on your crafting to get Woodblocks faster.
An alternative means of collecting Woodblocks is trying to fish them out as rewards for playing the Crane Craze mini-game in Merry Meadows. However, this is, quite frankly, a terrible use of your Game Tickets. Woodblocks have an ever-so-slight chance of being one of the rewards to grab in this mini-game. The odds of this happening are so low, that you’re better off collecting a better (and rarer) reward from Crane Craze. What’s more, you can theoretically harvest an unlimited amount of Sticks from fishing. Have patience, make sure you’re collecting as many Sticks and Coconuts as you can, and give it time.
Hello Kitty Island Adventure is now available on iOS, Apple Arcade, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
