How to Jog in FFXIV Patch 7.2

Final Fantasy XIV brought with it some new, interesting changes to the gameplay system in Patch 7.2 that will affect every single player. One of the more intriguing changes is the new Jog that players are able to do in FFXIV as of Patch 7.2 that is different from the existing Sprint option.

How to Jog in FFXIV

If you want to Jog now, which is a new feature you can do as of Patch 7.2, you will want to focus on the Sprint action first. Unlike Sprint, Jog does not have its own dedicated action for you to execute. Instead, you want to start by using Sprint. As always, Sprint will only last for not even a full 30 seconds before it runs out.

Once that short 20 or so seconds of Sprint are done, you will then switch to the Jog effect. This will automatically happen and you won’t even have to execute another action for you to do it. This is a brand new feature that makes running around Eorzea much easier than ever before.

How Jog and Sprint Work in Patch 7.2

As the names imply, Sprint and Jog work much differently from one another in FFXIV. Sprint is the same as it has always been. It lasts for 20 seconds and is the fastest you can run on foot without using a mount. Unlike Sprint, Jog is a bit slower but it is still much faster than the normal run speed that has been in the game since launch.

Better yet, Jog is pretty much infinite with a couple of exceptions. There is no timer for it, so you can jog as much as you want after sprinting. The only problem is it will cancel if you go into battle at any point. Or, of course, if you cancel it yourself by using Sprint again. Regardless, Jog makes the game much faster, especially in cities where mounts aren’t allowed.

Final Fantasy XIV is available right now for PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
