How to Plunder Items With Steal in Phantom Brave: The Lost Hero

In Phantom Brave: The Lost Hero, you need weapons and items for Phantom if you want them to use skills and deal more damage, but it can get expensive if you aren’t taking advantage of the Steal stat to plunder them from stages. Fortunately, there are a number of types of characters you can send into the field and Confine to objects or take advantage of skills to pick up things for free by playing and replaying maps.

How do I steal items in stages in Phantom Brave: The Lost Hero

What you’re looking for here are one of two things. You either want a unit with a high Steal stat deployed or you want to send a Merchant out to acquire Stock. Basically, if you want to really stock up on a regular basis, you want a whole team of about eight to ten characters who have a high Steal stat.

When you create a character, this is very easy to see on the creation page. As shown in the Ninja screenshot I shared below, it is flat-out labeled as Steal. Now, a Ninja isn’t ideal. Its level will be 20. Instead, you should rely on a team of Thieves and Scrabbits. Both of them have a base Steal stat of 40, which is one of the highest in the game. Fortunately, you can make both pretty much right away.

The Thief and Scrabbit can be used to steal both environmental objects and weapons via Confine in Phantom Brave: The Lost Hero, allowing you to plunder from stages. My recommendation is to first deploy your 2-3 strongest Thieves or Scrabbits. Defeat some enemies, which will cause them to drop their weapons. Then, use Marona to Confine additional Thieves and Scrabbits to those pieces of equipment to bring them home.

The Scrabbit is especially helpful in a situation when you have a full team of Thieves and Scrabbits for plundering from stages. This is because it has the Ability Seed Collecting. This boosts its already admirable Steal stat by 20 more points if an ally is in its action area. It’s a really common occurrence!

It’s also helpful to have one Merchant for this team. You need one made to unlock the Shop, of course. But it also has the Locally Sourced ability. This adds a Stock command to the character. If you walk up to a non-weapon item in a stage with a Merchant, the character can use Stock to make it appear in the Rare Items section of the Shop Facility. It’s also handy!

There’s one other thing you can do. As you advance in the campaign, you can unlock the Angler Phantom. The first time you have Marona create one, you’ll unlock the Salvage Facility. Using it also lets you get free equipment as you go through battles or when you aren’t playing, as the Angler will head out to scout for items over a period of real-world time or during battles.

Phantom Brave: The Lost Hero is available for the Switch, PS4, and PS5, and eventually the PC.
