Templeton (sometimes known as “Templton”) is one of 108 recruitable Stars of Destiny in Suikoden 2, and the Suiko Map is one of the most useful Key Items in the entire game. This guide details how to recruit Templeton and gain the Suiko Map simultaneously, unlocking a permanent overworld minimap and becoming one step closer to the perfect ending.
How to get the Suiko Map and find Templeton in Suikoden 2
You can recruit Templeton and obtain the Suiko Map in Suikoden 2 as soon as you have free reign over the city of Muse. To begin, head out of Muse and travel southeast into Toto Village, then exit the village from the south into the overworld.
Tip: While in Toto Village, talk to Hanna at the bottom of the village to recruit her. She’s also one of the Stars of Destiny and is worth having around.
Make your way to the remains of the Mercenary Fortress, where you’ll see Templeton argue with guards stationed there. After you speak with him, Templeton will run off into Toto Village.
Travel back northwest into Toto Village. Walk over to Templeton on the west side of the village and select either dialogue option. When he asks if you’re fighting the Highland Army, select “That’s right.” to recruit him to your cause!
After you recruit Templeton, he’ll hand over the Suiko Map. This extremely handy item enables a minimap on the bottom right of the screen while walking in the overworld. The squares represent locations you can visit, making this the perfect item for exploration.
The Suiko Map is also handy when trying to recruit The Five Squirrel Squad (Mukumuku, Makumaku, Mekumeku, Mikumiku and Mokumoku). All of which require you to be in a specific spot in the overworld to recruit.
Templeton stats
Templeton is a returning character from Suikoden, retaining his status as the Chimou Star in Suikoden 2. He isn’t a unit used in regular battle; instead, he simply provides location descriptions back at HQ.
Just like the first game, Templeton’s primary purpose (aside from being a Star of Destiny) is to give you the Suiko Map. He does, however, have a unique “Shortcut” ability in war battles, allowing the player to move across any type of terrain.
Suikoden I and II HD Remaster Gate Rune Wars and Dunan Unification Wars is available on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch.
