Civilization VII is already a great strategy title, but it only gets better when you play against other users rather than the computer. Of course, the problem with multiplayer is knowing whether you can enjoy Civ VII with someone else. Find out whether or not there is crossplay in Civilization VII and how to start it below.
Is There Crossplay in Civilization VII?
First and foremost, there is the matter of whether or not there is crossplay in the first place. Fortunately, I am happy to reveal that there is, indeed, crossplay in this latest Firaxis strategy title. In fact, it is possible to play multiplayer matches with every single other platform that the game is available on.
Yes, this means that PC is able to play with console and vice versa. Indeed, you are even able to mix console platforms together, like having Nintendo Switch play with PlayStation or Xbox and so on. However, there are some steps you will need to take before you actually engage in this feature.
How to Start Crossplay in Civ VII
To start playing crossplay multiplayer matches in Civ VII, you want to first make sure the feature is enabled. You can do this by going to the in-game settings and then checking under the “Game” option. Here, you should see crossplay and make sure that it is checked so you are able to match up with players on other platforms.
Then you need to make sure to have a 2K account and sign in with it in the game itself. There is a QR code the game will generate for you to make signing in much easier. You have to have a 2K account linked to your game or you will not be able to do crossplay. From there, it is quite easy, as you just need to search for a multiplayer match or start one for your friends to join and you can then play together no matter the platform.
Civilization VII is available right now for Nintendo Switch, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
