How to Reach and Talk to the Dwarf in the Mines

You can find the Dwarf NPC in the Mines in Pelican Town. More specifically, you want to look in the Eastern Cave of the Mines. Unfortunately, the path to the Eastern Cave is unavailable at the start of the game. You have to either upgrade and use a Steel Pickaxe to destroy the obstacles in the way or use a bomb like a Cherry Bomb or stronger to blow the rubble up.

Once you reach the Eastern Cave, you will find that the Dwarf speaks a different language than you. You aren’t able to talk to or understand the Dwarf until you get the Dwarvish Translation Guide item. To get this, you need to find four Dwarvish Scrolls in the Mines and then trade them to Gunther in the Museum.
