Square Enix’s take on the monster hunting genre is just a few months away. Lord of Arcana is set to come out on January 25, 2011 in stores and PlayStation Network download.

The news came with a snippet about the game’s story. Here’s why Slayers are hunting Agni, the magma monster in the picture above.

This world is called Horodyn, so named for its first king.

At the edge of a village surrounded by a huge forest lies the powerful stone Arcana, the source of all order in the world.

It is said that only one with power can acquire Arcana.

Slayers annihilate hordes of monsters so that they can lay their hands on Arcana.

What power does it hold? And to what destiny is one with Arcana bound?

Curious? There are two Lord of Arcana demos to play on Japan’s PlayStation Store. Those probably won’t let you import data in the US version though. No news if Square Enix will release those here before Lord of Arcana launches or not.
