We reported back in May that the next major expansion for Dragon Quest X, ‘The Shrine Maiden of Thorns and the God of Destruction’, will have players traveling through the demon world. Square Enix has released more details on three key characters, as well as details on the world itself.
The demon world has plunged into chaos thanks to the disappearance of the Great Demon King Madesagoura, who was the primary antagonist of Ver. 2.0. The demon world is waiting for the next incarnation of the Great Demon Lord to lead them, and the leaders of several countries in the demon world happen to be eyeing the empty throne.

Key Characters
Yushuca
The traveler Yushuca will be a helpful guide to the protagonist, who is visiting the demon world for the first time. It turns out that he’s an emissary from Farazard, one of the strongest countries in the demon world.
Illusia
A girl with lost memories living deep in the demon world. What is a human like her doing here…?
Demon Minister
The Demon Minister has seen the birth of many a Great Demon King. He’s currently waiting for the next person who exhibits the qualities necessary for the role.
Dragon Quest X is available in Japan on PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Wii U, and PC, as well as Nintendo 3DS via cloud gaming.
