PSA: Bandai Namco Shuts Down Blue Protocol Tomorrow

Bandai Namco’s action MMORPG Blue Protocol will officially shut down at 10pm JST on January 18, 2025. Despite the developer’s attempt to keep the game afloat, it struggled to keep a steady player base, and the studio decided back in August 2024 to shut it down.

Blue Protocol originally released for PCs in Japan on June 14, 2023, before later appearing for the PS5 and Xbox Series X on December 13, 2023. While Bandai Namco had plans to release the game in Europe and North America alongside Amazon, its worldwide release was canceled due to the end of the Japanese version.

The game received several content updates throughout its roughly a year and seven months lifespan including two new playable classes, the Beat Performer and the Blitz Lancer, as well as story chapters 4, 5, and 6. A week prior of the game shutting down, Bandai Namco shared instructions on how to uninstall the PC version of Blue Protocol as well as the Bandai Namco Launcher.

As a reminder, developer Bokura recently revealed Star Resonance, a new action MMORPG set in the world of Blue Protocol.

The Blue Protocol end of service falls on January 18, 2025 at 10pm JST. The Bandai Namco Launcher will also cease its functions at the same time.
