PSO2 New Genesis Will Have A Certain Magical Index III Content

Sega has revealed details on the upcoming crossover content from A Certain Magical Index III for Phantasy Star Online 2: New Genesis at the January 2025 NGS Headline program. The company will add content from the third mainline anime season of A Certain Magical Index to the new PSO2 entry with an update patch on February 5, 2025.

After the first February 2025 update has gone live, players will be able to access “A Certain Magical Index Style” scratch ticket with the premium-exclusive ARKS Cash currency to gather avatar parts, chat stamps, Line Strike mini-game cards, and other decorations featuring six characters from the A Certain franchise.

All players can also get acrylic stands of the characters via daily login rewards during the crossover event’s duration. The characters in question will be Toma, Index, Mikoto, Kaori, and Accelerator, with Little Misaka appearing exclusively in the scratch ticket lineup.

A Certain Magical Index will not be the last external franchise to provide crossover content for PSO2: New Genesis. When Sega published details about the Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End crossover that appeared in January 2025, it also announced plans to collaborate with another anime title based on a light novel between March and April 2025. An in-house Sega title crossover will then appear in June 2025, and a collaboration with a sci-fi fantasy toy line will follow in July 2025.

Phantasy Star Online 2: New Genesis is readily available worldwide on PC and PlayStation 4, with an additional Nintendo Switch cloud version in Japan and an Xbox One release elsewhere globally. The new crossover content from A Certain Magical Index III will be available temporarily for roughly a month starting from February 5, 2025.
