The gameplay trailer showcased new mechanics. One is the Gaia form, during which the protagonist and Puck merge into a large, monstrous form. This allows them to consume defeated enemies to gain items. Another feature is Phase Shifting. This allows Puck to take on a familiar Pac-Man shape to cross terrain the protagonist cannot tackle alone.

The concept for the game was first teased in the Secret Level anthology series on Amazon, where the nameless protagonist and Puck fought through a dark labyrinth, similarly filled with monsters and deadly traps.

Shadow Labyrinth, by Bandai Namco Entertainment, will release on Nintendo Switch on July 18, 2025. It will release on the same day on the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S/X, and Steam
