Square Enix Making Dragon Quest Golf Items

Square Enix has established Dragon Quest Golf as a new brand of golf merchandise with designs from its Dragon Quest game series. The company will showcase some of the brand’s sample items, which include a Slime-colored golf ball, at the 59th Japan Golf Fair on March 7-9, 2025.

On the official webpage, Square Enix noted that the Dragon Quest series has been immensely popular in Japan ever since the first entry appeared in 1986. People who were children in the 1980s have become parents in the 2020s, and adults of the time have become grandparents. Such generations also usually socialize by playing golf, and that led to Square Enix’s decision to establish the brand for such target audience.

As a side note, the first Dragon Quest game appeared in Japan in 1986 on the Famicom (NES), MSX, and MSX2. Square Enix is planning to release an HD-2D remake compilation that pairs the first game with Dragon Quest II, following the successful release of Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake on the Switch, PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC in late 2024.

Square Enix will reveal the Dragon Quest Golf sample items at Hokushin Trading’s booth (#2-48) in the 59th Japan Golf Fair 2025, which will take place at the Pacifico Yokohama Exhibition Hall on March 7-9, 2025.
