The Super Robot Wars series inspired a dedicated radio show titled Umasugi Wave, but it will go on a “long” hiatus after March 2025. The show’s hosts first broke the news on the 937th episode that aired on February 25, 2025. Bandai Namco later corroborated the reveal by posting an announcement tweet on the series’ official social media account. It added that the show may air again in the future, and it will make another announcement online when that does happen.
The radio show was originally launched in 2007 with specific coverage for the Super Robot Wars: Original Generations entries. However, it also more recently covered the series’ regular crossover entries.
Tomokazu Sugita, Mai Aizawa, and Masaaki Endo are among the radio show’s list of featured hosts. The first two voice actors have also been involved in voicing the game series’ original characters. Tomokazu Sugita is best known for voicing the KoRyuOh pilot Brooklyn “Bullet” Luckfield in the Original Generation series, while Mai Aizawa had a role as Gunleon’s co-pilot Mail Beater in the Super Robot Wars Z sub-series.
The entire host cast for Umasugi also played a role in the original character list for Super Robot Wars 30. Tomokazu Sugita voiced Edge Sainklaus, and Masaaki Endo sang his character’s theme songs. Mai Aizawa also participated in the game as the voice actress for Edge’s sister Az Sainklaus.
The last episode of the Super Robot Wars OG Umasugi Wave radio show before it goes on a long hiatus will air on March 25, 2025. Prior episodes are also available to watch on Highway Star’s official YouTube channel, albeit with limited access timeframes.
