Last week, Japan got three new releases with Ubisoft’s open-world racing game The Crew 2, the Nintendo Switch version of Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana, and Kurenai no Homura: Sanada Ninpou Chou. Japanese sales tracker Media Create released the latest video game software and hardware sales data from the week of June 25 through July 1, 2018.

 

The top-selling game of the week is Mario Tennis Aces, which enjoyed a nice debut last week, and it is back for another set with 49,143 units sold on Switch to chart at #1. Minecraft on Switch jumped up a spot with 25,773 units sold to take #2. This week’s first new entry, The Crew 2, placed #3 with 17,575 units sold on PS4.

 

Splatoon 2 continues riding the wave with 16,266 units sold on Switch for #4. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe follows at #5 with 10,774 units sold. At #6 we have New Gundam Breaker with a big drop down to 9,159 units sold in the week.

 

The next new title is Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana for Switch at #7 with 6,431 units sold in its debut. Lastly, the third new title is Idea Factory’s new adventure game by Otomate, Kurenai no Homura: Sanada Ninpou Chou, charted at #13 with 4,641 units sold in its debut on PS Vita.

 

Hardware sales were mostly the same across the board last week. The PlayStation 4 sold 13,632 units and the PS4 Pro sold 5,179 units to combine for a total of 18,811 between the two. The Nintendo Switch sold 50,762 units, making it about 62.9% of the consoles sold that week. Going by Media Create’s figures, the Nintendo Switch is currently at 4,494,317 units sold in Japan since its launch in March 3, 2017.
