Last week, Japan saw the release of three titles in Luigi’s Mansion for Nintendo 3DS, Tetris Effect, and FromSoftware’s PS VR game Déraciné.Japanese sales tracker Media Create released the latest video game software and hardware sales data from the week of October 8 to October 14, 2018.
The top spot of the week goes to the 3DS remake of Luigi’s Mansion, which sold 27,370 units in its debut to chart #1. Last week’s top title Call of Duty: Black Ops IV followed closely at #2 with 25,740 units sold. At #3 we have Super Mario Party with 23,333 units sold on Switch.
Red Dead Redemption 2 is at #4 with 16,819 units sold on PS4. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe follows at #5 with 8,466 units sold for Switch. As far as other new titles go, we have Tetris Effect at #9 with 4,372 units sold on PS4 and Déraciné at #13 with 3,086 units sold for PS4.
In hardware sales, the PlayStation 4 sold 8,154 plus an additional 7,927 for PS4 Pro to combine for 16,081 units sold in the week. The Nintendo Switch was the best-selling console of the week with 54,235 units, just short of 10k from last week to make up for about 68.8% of all hardware sales of the week. Going by Media Create’s figures, the Nintendo Switch is currently at 5,321,936 units sold in Japan since its launch in March 3, 2017.
