Bucking the trend of bleached graphics, the Trauma Team staff picked a bright palette for their upcoming Wii game.

“Many recent games have a monochrome look, as if they’ve gone through a bleaching process. While they look cool, the style is quite common nowadays and not particularly interesting,” Masayuki Doi, Art Director and Character Designer, said in a developer featurette.

In addition to vivid hues, Trauma Team tells the story in a unique way. Trauma Team presents the story in animated comic book frames opposed to full motion video or talking heads on static backgrounds. Before Naoya Maeda, Lead 3D and Event Designer, settled on this style he considered comic book style movies and  illustrations that look like oil paintings. Perhaps Atlus can use the oil painting idea for a future Shin Megami Tensei game. That would be trippy.

Check out these new screenshots and hop over to the featurette for a concept video of Maeda’s presentation using a scene from Trauma Center: New Blood.
