Last week, Japan had another big release and this time it was from Atlus with Shin Megami Tensei IV: Final, a sequel set in the same world of Shin Megami Tensei IV. Media Create has provided the latest sales data of video game software and hardware for the week of February 8 through February 14, 2016.

Shin Megami Tensei IV: Final was the best-selling title last week in the #1 spot with 96,349 copies sold for Nintendo 3DS in its debut week. Its predecessor, Shin Megami Tensei IV, sold a whopping 188,562 copies in its first week back in 2013, meaning a good half went on to purchase Shin Megami Tensei IV: Final.

While Final’s numbers aren’t as impressive as Shin Megami Tensei IV’s, keep in mind that those were pretty exceptional numbers as it was Atlus’ second best-selling title in recent history, just 4,000 short of Persona 4 back in 2008. That said, the 96,349 copies sold is pretty good for a non-main-numbered Shin Megami Tensei title.

In #2 this week we have Dragon Quest Builders retaining the position as it did last week with 24,536 copies sold for its PlayStation Vita version. The PS4 version hit #4 with 16,434 units and the PS3 version at #5 with 13,233 copies, totaling for 54,203 copies across the three platforms.

We had another new release with Valkyria Chronicles Remastered on PlayStation 4, which took the #3 spot with 24,156 units sold in its first week. The original game sold 77,267 units on its debut week for PS3, but it’s safe to say that most are holding out for Valkyria: Azure Revolution, which is expected to release later this year.

On the hardware side, it doesn’t look like Shin Megami Tensei IV: Final moved any 3DSes, but it makes sense given that most people who purchased the game already owned the handheld console from the previous title. Meanwhile, the Wii U has seen better days and it’ll likely remain that way until Pokkén Tournament releases next month. The PlayStation 4 and PS Vita continues to perform well with a steady flow of releases for the two.
