Last week, the holiday sales are in full force with the release of several new titles including Yo-kai Watch Busters 2, Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth Hacker’s Memory, Story of Seasons: The Tale of Two Towns+, and Resident Evil 7: biohazard Gold Edition Grotesque Ver. Japanese sales tracker Media Create released the latest software and hardware sales data from the week of December 11 through December 17, 2017.

Just when we thought Pokémon Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon would be the last 3DS title to see the #1 spot, Yo-kai Watch Busters 2’s Sword and Magnum versions saw a big debut as 2017 nears an end, with 208,540 units sold on Nintendo 3DS.

Here’s a look at how Yo-kai Watch Busters 2 stacks with its previous entries:

  • (2013) Yo-kai Watch – 53,654
  • (2014) Yo-kai Watch 2: Head/Founder – 1,316,707
  • (2014) Yo-kai Watch 2: Headliner – 1,244,171
  • (2015) Yo-kai Watch Busters – 693,538
  • (2016) Yo-kai Watch: Sangokushi – 269,516
  • (2016) Yo-kai Watch: Sushi/Tempura – 632,135
  • (2016) Yo-kai Watch 3: Sukiyaki – 337,979
  • (2017) Yo-kai Watch Busters 2: Sword/Magnum – 208,540

At #2 we have Super Mario Odyssey enjoying the Christmas sales with 133,180 units sold in the week on the Nintendo Switch. It has now surpassed the 1 million milestone in Japan in retail alone. Pokémon Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon’s sales remain sky-high with 119,005 units sold on 3DS in the week to chart #3. Splatoon 2 is also made a big splash with 70,489 units sold on Switch to place #4, passing the 1.5 million milestone in Japanese retail alone. And at #5 we have Mario Kart 8 Deluxe with 50,679 units sold on Switch.

Other new titles include Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth Hacker’s Memory with 24,636 units sold on PlayStation Vita to chart #9 and 20,890 units sold on PlayStation 4 at #10. Combined, the game sold 45,526 units between the two. The previous entry, Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth sold 76,760 units on PlayStation Vita back in March 2015.

Story of Seasons: The Tale of Two Towns+ debuted with 15,612 units sold on 3DS to chart #12 and Resident Evil 7: biohazard Gold Edition Grotesque Ver. crept up right behind at #13 with 14,787 units sold on PS4. I should also point out that it’s cool to see all titles in the top-20 of the week hit five digit sales for the first time in a while.

Hardware sales were huge for all platforms last week with PlayStation 4 selling 45,161 units and the PS4 Pro with 17,804. The PlayStation Vita and New Nintendo 3DS handheld consoles also saw an overall increase as well. Even the Xbox One saw its biggest spike in a while going from 406 units to 2,175. The top-selling hardware goes to the Nintendo Switch with 221,210 units sold in the week, which now puts it at 2,907,145 units sold since its March launch, going by Media Create’s data.
