Xenoblade Chronicles X‘s FN Site 110 looms over Promaria as an enigma, a probe site that, according to the map, you should be able to reach with ease. You can’t. Not until advancing quite a bit through the main storyline, at least.
Our Xenoblade Chronicles X FN Site 110 guide explains how to reach this data site and why you’d want to bother with it to begin with. The information here applies to both the original Xenoblade Chronicles X and the Switch’s Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition.
Where Is FN Site 110 in Xenoblade Chronicles X?
FN Site 110 is in Primordia, not far from New L.A. It’s roughly two grid squares north of New L.A., which deceptively makes it seem as if you can reach the location soon. You can travel near it and explore the surrounding area, including unlocking the Talon Rock fast travel locations. However, the actual probe site is on a high plateau that you can’t reach without a Skell.
The probe icon is actually accurate for once as well, as you’re looking for the spot at the tip of the giant promontory that stretches toward New L.A.
You don’t get a Skell until completing the Skell License quest, the name of which is a little misleading. There’s one license, true, but you have to pass eight exams to get it. The Skell License quest unlocks after you complete Chapter 6: Dark Matter, which is roughly halfway through the game. You could speed your way to it by focusing on the main story, but Xenoblade Chronicles X‘s difficulty curve means you’ll want to take your time and complete at least a few side quests while working on story missions. Defeating Tyrant monsters when you’re able to is another good way to boost your level.

Anyway, once you have a Skell, you can fly up to the site on the ridge. The enemies in the Talon Rock area vary in level, from the mid- to upper 20s on the south side up to level 40 and higher as you get further north. However, most of these will remain on the ground and won’t target you in your airborne Skell. The dragon-like monster that flies around Primordia frequents this location. It won’t target you on sight, though, so if you want to just activate the probe and leave, you don’t have to battle it.
Is It Worth Activating FN Site 110?
There’s nothing particularly noteworthy that happens when you do activate FN Site 110. However, it’s generally a good idea to activate any probe site you find as you explore Mira. Not only does it let your FrontierNav display more detailed information about the location, including special points of interest or major threats, such as Tyrants and their level.
Probe sites also have passive bonuses, such as providing combat support in some circumstances. The most useful passive bonus, however, is acting as a source of miranium. You can extract a set amount of the resource from any data probe, and you’ll want as much as the game lets you carry. You need Miranium to craft weapons and augments, and while you can get by with just the weapons you find or purchase, crafting weapons gives you more control over their stats and bonus effects.
