Assassin’s Creed Shadows, like most of the recent games, has its own villainous group that players will be able to hunt down and assassinate. As with any masked group, there is a leader at the top of them that could be considered one of the main villains of the story. If you want to know the identity of who The Horseman Shinbakufu leader is in Assassin’s Creed Shadows, check below.
Shinbakufu Villain Group, Explained
The Shinbakufu, or Onryo as they are initially known, is the villainous group that is at the heart of the main story in this latest title in the series. The Shinbakufu is who Naoe and Yasuke are after. I won’t spoil it here, but this group has a much more meaningful place in the story than past similar groups.
There are initially around 12 members of the Shinbakufu group. They all wear masks that hide their identities, but also sort of hint at who they might be. Each member also has a codename they go by in their nefarious and mysterious goals. The leader at the head of the Shinbakufu is known as The Horseman.
What Is the Identity of The Horseman in Assassin’s Creed Shadows?
The Horseman is an unknown person for the vast majority of Assassin’s Creed Shadows. While you can target some members of the Shinbakufu in any order you want, The Horseman is saved for last as you might expect. Because of this, you don’t know who this person is until late into the story.
If you want to know the identity of The Horseman, this is your last chance to turn away before I spoil it. In the end, The Horseman is none other than Ashikaga Yoshiaki. You can look into his real-life history, but he is the most recent shogun at the time of this game. His desire to return to his power is a key motivator for the creation of this group.
Assassin’s Creed Shadows is available right now for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
